At VOSM, we consider rehabilitation therapy to be an integrative part of the recovery process following illness or injury. We have a full staff of certified canine rehabilitation therapists who are skilled in working with post-operative orthopedic and neurologic patients. Whether performed as an alternative to surgery or as post-surgical treatment, rehabilitation therapy is designed around each individual patient to ensure a thorough, long-lasting recovery.

Common physical rehabilitation modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical neuromuscular stimulation (TENS), cold laser, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), magnetic field therapy, massage, acupuncture, and underwater treadmill and swimming can all, when used properly, assist in treating orthopedic, neurologic and chronic conditions brought about by normal aging in our companions, such as osteoarthritis and weight management. These conditions can cause weakness, pain, decreased range of motion, loss of coordination, decreased endurance and difficulty with normal daily activities.
