About Dr. Ryan Gallagher

Dr. Ryan Gallagher completed his undergraduate degree in the wine country of northern California at Sonoma State University where he obtained a Bachelor of the Arts in Biology with Distinction. He completed his veterinary schooling at the University of California, Davis. As a student at UC Davis, Dr. Gallagher led the Davis chapter of the Student Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society and had the honor of being inducted into the veterinary honor society of Phi Zeta. In the summer between his first and second year of veterinary school, Dr. Gallagher discovered his passion for clinical neurology while working in the teaching hospital at the university. Following graduation for UC Davis, Dr. Gallagher went on to complete a one-year rotating medicine/surgery internship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Gallagher completed a three-year residency in Neurology at North Carolina State University—one of the nation's premier neurology training programs. At NC State, Dr. Gallagher received advanced training in both medical and surgical neurology. One of the most rewarding aspects of Dr. Gallagher's time at NC State was sharing his passion in neurology with students and kindling their interest in the field. During his time in North Carolina, Dr. Gallagher participated in numerous studies on treatment and recovery from spinal trauma, utility of imaging in predicting surgical findings, and pharmacokinetics. Dr. Gallagher's particular interests are in the surgical and alternative treatment of chronic intervertebral disc disease.
